The best method of communicating in a huge shopping mall

For us, the shoppers, buying can become a fun-filled trip into town on a pleasant sun-dappled morning, complete with good friends, fascinating conversation and tasty goodies.

However, a shop is generally a good deal above a pleasing Saturday afternoon’s interruption for those folks that run it. The typical high street shop is, in truth, a tightly run grouping of intelligent marketing, well-planned shop layouts and fast working workers, all of which come all together to generate a state of the art customer market. Walkie talkies are a huge part of this operation.

How? Well, there is health and safety to consider 1st and foremost. Customers need to be protected, with quick medical attention given should any problem befall them.

Then, there’s security of course. Allegedly, in ’09 alone, over 800,000 people were captured for shoplifting. The next year, The BBC reported that theft had cost UK stores £4.4bn in less than a year. It appears that, thefts add around £180 to the regular family’s yearly shopping bill. Protection employees need to become more watchful than ever, but without imposing their attendance on (and thus disappointing) innocent patrons.

A dependable 2 way radio system is the great way to achieve this. Using 2 way radios, security personnel can observe a possible situation peacefully and unobtrusively, questioning (if need be, apprehending) the person without creating too much of an fuss.

But those are not the only causes that two way radios are very important to the retail environment. Employees and consumers need to be protected from possibly dangerous conditions as well. We’ve all observed a seemingly mundane situation grow rampant for one reason or another but it’s down to the store’s administration to see that these incidents are restricted and diffused in a quick and skilled method.

Of course, we also need to think about the bigger retail environments like shopping malls and huge centres of business. Across places as large and sprawling as these might be, security, protection and customer comfort are all key considerations that turn out to be that much more difficult to observe and manage. On that scale, every trouble becomes amplified. In these situations, two way radios need to be dependable, able to operate over long areas and run using a relatively long battery life.

Two way radios are ideal for the task at hand, enabling management to oversee intricate operations and staff to present their duties in a secure and respectful operational environment. Without two way radios, a Saturday afternoon’s shopping would become a far less interesting prospect…
